Beyond Ourselves: Wandering into Wonder
To be a part of the mystery, to be on our journey is to recognize that sometimes we come face to face with something that takes our breath away, that makes us feel small and huge, infinitesimal, and a part of the universe at once. For me, this is awe. I always find this in nature, and sometimes in art, occasionally in music. Part of my journey includes being mindful of this need within myself and even going so far as to schedule time in nature, all the while going with no expectations, no shoulds, for it is more up to nature than to me, all I can do is show up, this is not about doing, it is about being. Recognizing the fast pace of our lives, I find this essential for my own well-being journey and a valuable part of psychotherapy, accompanying and encouraging people as they allow awe into their lives.
